Tips for Men's Hair Grow Out

One of the current trends we are seeing in mens’ hair is “the flow.” Longer hair is making a comeback. A lot of men, despite the summer heat, have been growing out their hair and is requesting assistance with the process. Seems like it would be a definite no brainer— just don’t get a haircut, right? WRONG!

Read along for a few tips to make it appear like you actually know what you’re doing.

  1. GROW THE TOP FIRST

This means continuing to stick to your regularly scheduled haircut appointments to trim up the sides, back, and especially those edges. This will avoid anything resembling a mullet.

  2. HOW DO I KEEP IT OUT OF MY FACE AT THE GYM?

Hats and men workout headbands are a great option to keep your “flow” from interrupting

    your gym flow.

  3. USE CONDITIONER

It is definitely necessary to keep your hair soft and moisturized during the grow out and then so on to maintain healthy, long locks. The Aveda Sap Moss is a great option for weightless

    moisture.

  4. WET OR DRY LOOK?

This is based on preference. If your goal for your “flow” is to look soft and touchable, then a paste with a matte finish is best. The Aveda Men’s Grooming Clay or Thickening Paste are two of our personal favorites. If more of a wet look with less movement is your goal, then reach for a pomade with a strong hold. The Aveda Men’s Pomade is another favorite among hairstylists.

  5. YOU MUST BLOW DRY

Yes, fellas, blow dry. You will get the best effect by doing so and you will enjoy the overall shape of the haircut more than if you let it air dry. It will also remain more manageable throughout the day. Most men’s products, especially, Aveda’s Men’s styling line, is formulated for dry hair.
